We had an exciting week learning about fire safety and the important community helpers who keep us safe!
✨ Language Development
The children listened to books about fire safety and helpers, practiced writing in “fire paint” inside ziploc bags, and used puppets to say simple helper words like “go,” “help,” and “please.” We also practiced stop, drop, and roll with picture cards and matched pictures of different community helpers.
🧠 Cognitive Development
In cognitive play, we counted fire hats, pretended to put out fires by pouring water into cups, sorted red and yellow blocks, and explored how flashlights work.
🏃 Motor Development
For motor activities, the children had fun riding on the recycling trucks outside, ripping and crumbling red and yellow paper like fire, crawling through a tunnel as if on a rescue mission, and strengthening their hands while squishing and shaping playdough.
💞 Social & Emotional Development
We looked at pictures of firefighters and other helpers, talked about the important work they do, and practiced turn-taking while riding on the firetruck outside.
🎨 Art
Our art projects were full of fire safety fun! The children painted with sponges using red and yellow paint, glued tissue paper “flames” onto paper, used spray bottles to create a painted effect, and glued stripes onto their very own fire hats.
