It has been a busy week talking about all the different helpers in the community! Monday in art the children painted with red and yellow paint and in language they practiced writing letters. In math the children matched fire extinguisher shapes. Tuesday was picture day so instead of chancing getting messy in art, the children explored play dough with fall cookie cutters and rollers. In language the children engaged in an alphabet path game, and worked on the sound of the letter they landed on each turn. In math the children engaged in a count and clip activity to count the number of community helpers and attach a clothespin to the corresponding number on the card. Wednesday in art the children did band-aid t, always a hit! In language the children explored rhyming words by looking a a picture word and finding the rhyming picture word to match. In math the children engaged in a fire safety path game to get the fire truck to the burning house. Today in art the children stamped letters and in language they dictated what community helper they would be, and why. In math the children wanted to play the path game again so we put that out. Tomorrow in art the children will marble paint and in language they will match letters on chef hats. In math the children will make pom pom stew by adding pom poms to a pot! In the block area this week the children worked with occupation stacking blocks, cars and people. The drama area has been transitioned into a grocery store and we’ve added food boxes/containers, shopping baskets, bags, and turned the table into a conveyor belt!! The children continue to show an interest in coloring and drawing so they have been busy during free play times to engage. The children also found the baby dolls and have been very interested so we put them out in the my space area. Book share Friday will be tomorrow too, the children are enjoying hearing story books their friends brought.
