Rhyming!

I can rhyme…can you? This week was all about Nursery Rhymes. We began the week by discussing what a Nursery Rhyme was…a short story or poem that can have some rhyming words in it. We also discussed that a rhyming words are words that have the same ending but a different beginning sound. Our week of activities were broken down by a different Nursery Rhyme. The Nursery Rhymes that we looked at were Baa Baa Black Sheep, Jack and Jill, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Humpty Dumpty and Jack B. Nimble. At the language table all week the children worked on letter recognition activities. At the math table, the children worked on measuring, number recognition and creating patterns. At science the children worked on their building skills by using small blocks to build fences and walls (Baa Baa Black Sheep and Humpty Dumpty). Our friends became creative at the art table making sheep using a pom pom, water drop painting, hand print spiders, rip art Humpty Dumpty and water colors. There has been a recent drop in temperatures this week…feel that fall has officially started! Please make sure that your children have the appropriate clothing for outside!
