The children are very excited for Halloween and have been talking about it all week, and some friends have been counting down the days! Monday in art the children painted orange and purple on green paper with water bottles and in language they engaged in a Halloween bingo game, talking about all the fun pictures. In math the children matched numbers on a candy corn. Tuesday in art the children decorated their treat bags with Halloween cookie cutters and glitter paint. In language the children dictated what their costume will be for Halloween and in math the children explored a 1 to 1 correspondence pumpkin grid with spiders. Wednesday in art the children cut and glued green and purple paper to a witches hat, while some friends finished their treat bags. In language the children practiced writing Halloween words and in math the children got creative using different shapes on a pumpkin. Today the children got to decorate cake pops! In math the children engaged in a Jack’O Lantern concentration game and in language the children matched letters to a haunted house. In the dry table this week the children worked with bow tie pasta, ice cube trays, bowls and spiders. The children also continue to be interested in the baby dolls and we added bottles and bibs and we are also seeing the children use the baskets for toys, as places for their babies to sit/sleep. We moved the area as well to create a little more space for them to play. The drama area grocery store has fizzled out and the children are creating their own ideas with the cash registers and food boxes. The children have also expressed interest to set up drama as a movie theater so this will be the next theme. Tomorrow will be a fun and busy day! The children will start in the great room singing songs and then head upstairs to trick or treat. After trick or treating through the center we will have some fun activities out; wind up Halloween characters, fun Halloween ducks in the water table and more fun surprises. The children will then head to the great room before lunch to play all the fun games Ms Judy has planned. After nap the children will close the celebrations with a fun, and healthy snack.
