Everyone is an artist! We learned that this week! We did hear about famous artists like Monet, O’Keefe, and Adams, but we also learned that even we can be an artist! We don’t just have to paint to be an artist either! We heard about sculptures and saw the big balloon dog that Jeff Koons made and pictures of the Statue of Liberty and learned that giant statue is ART! In the classroom, we sculpted with playdough, we painted on canvas and even made a group mural! We will be ending our week with all things Ansel Adams! He was a photographer who took pictures in black and white. We will become photographers as Miss Tara has us taking the pictures we want to take! Those will be posted next week! For some language, we have been busy with letters, writing and playing alphabet BINGO! We started a new activity of walking around the room with a clipboard and pencil and writing the words we see (we call it “write the room”!). We counted, patterned, and sorted for math. We had a variety of activities to keep us busy as we worked at the table. Our sensory bin kept our hands occupied as we played with string, yarn and beads. The letter of the week is ‘Qq’. We learned the best ‘Q’ word is QUIET and learned how to do it in sign language! Since we did not get outside this week, we utilized the Great Room with yoga, running, dance and freeze and even got in some parachute play! We look forward to doing the hula next week and possibly warmer days ahead!
