Art is Fun!

This week we learned about some famous artists in history, and we explored various learning activities using art. Monday in art the children created a self-image, using a mirror to look at their facial features. In math the children engaged in a Spanish number bingo game, and in language they matched English and Spanish color words. This was fun as the children practiced saying the color words in Spanish. Exploring the number and color words in Spanish incorporated the artist. Aurora Rayes Flores, culture into their learning. Tuesday’s artist, Jeff Koons, he was famous for creating sculptures and the children worked with play dough and other items to make their own sculpture. In math the children created fingerprint numbers and in language the children matched letters to a paint palette. Wednesday’s artist. Damian Hirst, well known for creating art with dots and in art the children created their own version of Mickey Mouse, using circles. In math the children explored 3D art and in language the children tore or cut paper and glued to the first setter of their name. Today’s artist, Cecily Brown, a British contemporary artist. In art the children did free art with different color paints and paintbrushes. In math the children explored creating art with shapes and in language the children dictated what they would create, or paint, if they were a painter. Tomorrow’s artist, Ansel Adams, a famous photographer. In art the children will create black and white art using white chalk on black paper. In math the children will create patterns with big and small beads and in language the children will practice writing opposites words. In the sensory table this week the children practiced cutting and in the block area the children worked with letter builders,
