Lots of Reading!

This week was soooo busy with LOTS and LOTS of reading! That’s one of our favorite things to do! We read so many books by the authors we planned and we also read 8 books for the BOOK PLAYOFF! We also learned that so many of our boys and girls want to be authors, too! They have good ideas! For art, we changed it up a little each day. On Monday, we cut and glued to make a pigeon (Mo Willems pigeon books). On Tuesday, we painted with balloons (Laura Numeroff, If You Give a Pig a Party). On Wednesday, we cut out a circle, and used our green crayons to color (Eric Carle, Hungry Caterpillar). On Thursday, we just used our scissors to cut out a red fish (Lio Lionni, Swimmy). Friday will be all about letters as we make a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree (Bill Martin, Jr). We added in books with our math and language all week, too! We have counted, sorted, graphed, stacked, and more all week. We also wrote letters, did dictation and put the alphabet in order. Our sensory bin was filled with water to explore. We used pipettes to move the water and empty in to bowls. Our science table was always busy with friends as we played and figured out how our gears work together. We got outside again! Even if it is just for a little bit, we always enjoy the sunny days with the fresh air! Our letter of the week was ‘Uu’. We discovered we can’t think of many words that start with the letter, but the book for the letter ‘Uu’ was all about an umbrella bird (something many had never heard of!). We will end our week with a music class and sharing our votes with Miss Holle so we can start our book bracket out on the Great Room window! We can’t wait to see how this ends up!
