It’s spring week and while the weather outside has had its up and downs, inside we are discovering and exploring what this season is all about. They have painted with spring colors and shook colorful scarves to fun music. We have read books that have been all about a spring theme and watched bubbles float above them. They have colored with chalk, dropped popsicle sticks into containers, and tossed bean bags into baskets. We even have brought out plastic eggs to play with and they had a lot of fun taking them apart, dropping them down a tube, and watching them roll across the room. The children watched stories on the flannel board about rain drops and they were able to take them off and put them back on by themselves. Pretend flowers were brought out for them to try and move the stems into holes in a colander, they worked really hard at this activity. We put pom-poms into whisks for them to pull out and showed them how to move the whisk to “stir” food. Shape sorters and clear stacking blocks were out to figure out to drop items into something and how to stack smaller blocks on top of one another. Our youngest babies are gaining strength by playing in the exersaucer and sitting in our lion seat – they are doing well at reaching for toys in front of them. They felt drop of water that were dropped on their palms while we talked about what it felt like to them. They watched puppets and danced with the teachers. We have been so busy this week but it has been so fun and we can’t wait to explore Easter next week!
