Our theme this week is Pets.  We talked about who has a pet, the pet’s name, and those hwo didn’t have a pet were able to say wahwt pet they wanted.  We talked about the different aninals that we can have as pets such as bires, lizards, turtle,s dogs, cats, and so on.  Some children asked why do people have wild ansimals as pets and it was explaiened that they are not necessiaryly pers but they are more of a rehilibation center who may have a license to care for the animals who cannot go back to the wild beacuse of their injury.

The children practiced writing names of pets using pencil and paper.  We did a chart where the children colored in what pet they have.  We did a beginning sounds game, and they did a comparing pets activity using the math counters.  We did a letter reviewing game where they had to identify the letters they see.

They sorted animals by land, air, and water.  They counted 26 objects and using the graph, they figured out which animal had less, more, or equal.  They used different math manipulatives to make different homes for animals.

The children drew pictures of animals using the books for reference.  They did a cutting and pasting animal art projects of their choice.

This week is Week of the Young Child where the children made their own instruments, made a S’more Trail Mix, made a handprint for the sunflower, they made a creation using the toys with Older Toddlers, and Mayor George read 3 books!  It was a fun week and they had so much fun!!
