It’s construction week and the children have been super busy in the block area with their hard hats, safety vests and tools! We have seen a lot of creative building! In art this week the children painted with hammers, they explored collage art, and some wet chalk creations! The children may do some marble painting this afternoon and tomorrow they will paint with loofahs! In math the children engaged in a construction bingo game and learned more names of all the materials and equipment construction workers use. The children also engaged in a path game to get the truck to the construction site. The children worked with 1 to 1 correspondence grids and color counters, and today they worked on number and shape puzzles. Tomorrow the children will match the tool to its shadow. In language the children practiced writing tool words, they dictated what they would build if they could build anything, they explored a hard hat letter memory game and tomorrow they will hunt for letters around the room. In the sensory table the children worked with water, large bottles, funnels and bottle to fill. Art has been busy as usual with lots of interest to draw with the different materials, yesterday they were very interested in the colored pencils. Swimming also continues to be so fun and we love to see the children enjoy this water play time.
Oh, The Construction is All Around Us!
