Do Re Mi Fa So La! This week was all about music. We started the week by discussing what music is. The children had an answer of putting sounds together. From there, the children were asked if music can be made out of anything. Many said yes and many said no. I had the children tap their knees and told them that they were making music and while Miss Tara was setting up lunch, she hit the spoon on the bowl and the children said, “Miss Tara is making music.” We read books that talked about how music is everywhere and that you just don’t need instruments to make it. This week the children worked on letter writing, beginning sounds and letter recognition activities at the language table. At math, the children worked on sound patterns, number recognition and measuring. At the science table this week, the children had a water xylophone. When you add different amounts of water to a glass jar and lightly tap it, they all make different sounds. The children were creative at the art table this week painting with drum sticks and making their own drum. We listened to different types of music this week such as classical, jazz and pop. We had fun field trips this week with Lemon Seeds music and Rocky River Nature. We hope the children had fun making music this week with us! We will have more fun next week. We hope you all have a fun weekend!
