Nursery Rhyme

Nursery Rhyme week has been so busy with all the stories and rhymes we have read! We heard so many “old” rhymes and we also heard “new” Nursery Rhymes because everything gets modernized these days! For art, we made Jack and Jill’s water from their pail, the itsy bitsy spider, a lamb from Mary’s herd and Humpty Dumpty himself! For math, we have been busy sorting, counting and even doing some simple addition as so many of the boys and girls ask to add numbers together. We LOVE the extra math facts and how the children show their interests. For some language activities, we matched up the uppercase letters with the lowercase letters, rescued the letters from the spider web and matched them with the letters on the table, and we even played alphabet BINGO! Our sensory bin was filled with a variety of Nursery Rhymes pieces and parts like: Jack and Jill’s pails, the “water” from the pail, spiders, and so much more. The table was busy this week and while the children were engaging in their play, we overheard them retelling the Nursery Rhymes. Our letter of the week was Ee. We heard the book and realized it was hard to come up with more than 10 words that start with that letter. One little girl said, “I wish we were on ‘B’ again…that letter had A LOT more words to go with it than ‘E’ does!” We got lucky with a lot of outside time. We watched the leaves fall and even tried to catch a few! We will wrap up our week with a short day for the boys and girls. We will have the most fun in the few hours we have together!
