Hats, sports, fancy outfits, senior citizens, and pajamas… oh my! What a fun-filled week we had celebrating Theme Week! 🎉 Each day brought something new and exciting as our little learners participated in special dress-up days, themed activities, creative art, and plenty of hands-on exploration.
From showing off our favorite hats to dancing the day away and getting cozy in our pajamas, we had so many opportunities to learn, play, and make memories together! ❤️
🗣️ Language Development
📚 We explored language and early literacy through several themed activities! Our toddlers practiced matching letters on colorful hat cutouts, experimented with chalk and chalkboards, colored on dress and tie cutouts, and explored magnetic letters. 🎩🔤👔 These activities encouraged letter recognition, vocabulary development, and early writing skills.
🧠 Cognitive Development
🔍 Our little thinkers explored a variety of activities that encouraged problem-solving, matching, and discovery! We practiced sorting and placing bottle caps into muffin tins, investigated colorful space rocks, explored animal magnets, and experimented with magnetic connectors. 🚀🧲🐘 These activities encouraged curiosity, early math concepts, and hands-on scientific exploration.
🏃 Motor Development
💪 Our little movers had plenty of opportunities to get active! We participated in a Hat Relay, passing hats to our friends, and played Tag the Tie, where children took turns wearing a tie while their friends tried to tag them. 🎩👔 For fine motor practice, we built with waffle blocks and bristle blocks, strengthening little fingers while exploring different ways to connect and create! 🧱
😊 Social & Emotional Development
🤝 We focused on friendship, teamwork, and learning how to manage our emotions. Our toddlers explored simple breathing techniques using a picture die, practicing different ways to take a breath and calm our bodies. We also played Hot Potato, passing an object around the circle while practicing turn-taking, patience, and participating with friends. 🥔❤️
🎨 Art & Creative Expression

We decorated and colored our own paper hats, celebrating Hat Day with creativity and style! 🎩We experimented with marble painting, using a ball to roll paint across paper and create colorful designs! ⚽🎨We put on our dancing shoes and moved to classic ballroom music, enjoying rhythm, movement, and dancing with friends! 💃🕺We explored painting with hair rollers, discovering new textures and patterns as we rolled paint across our paper! 🎨

We’ll use pajama cutouts featuring our friends’ names and encourage toddlers to find matching pairs. This activity will help build name recognition, visual matching, and early literacy skills! 💤

Our little problem-solvers will explore puzzles, practicing matching, recognizing shapes, and figuring out how different pieces fit together. 🧩

It’s time to get moving! Our toddlers will navigate an obstacle course filled with opportunities to climb, step, crawl, and maneuver their way through different challenges. 💪
🌎 Social Studies: Cupcakes with Grandma Joyce! 🧁
We have a very special visitor! Francis’ grandmother, Grandma Joyce, will be joining us to make delicious vegan cupcakes with the children. What a sweet opportunity to explore food, family traditions, and making memories together! ❤️
🎨 Art: Dreamcatchers
Our little artists will create their own dreamcatchers by decorating paper plates and threading yarn through them. This activity will encourage creativity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor development! 🌙✨
