We all are rockstars! This week was all about music and what better way then to play some music ourselves. We have musical instruments at the science table, in the sensory bin and of course in our music area for the children to become the rockstars that they are. This week we learned about different genres of music such as country, jazz, classical and pop. We played a game via the I-pad of “Can you guess that instrument?” The children also learned about the different classes of instruments such as the wind instruments and the string instruments. At group, we looked at sheet music and we talked about when they get older and if they decide to play an instrument, they will learn all these notes and how to play them. We worked on letter recognition activities, writing different music words, and playing some instrument BINGO. At the math table, we worked on number recognition by putting the instruments in numerical order, making patterns with egg shakers and playing a musical note memory game. The children worked on some awesome art by creating a record out of a coffee filter, painted with drumsticks and made musical notes with their fingerprints. Of course let’s not forget the awesome field trips we went on this week which were Miller Road Park where we got to see some demolition of a building, men trimming some of the trees and people on their boats coming and going. We ended our field trip week with a trip to Rocky River Nature Center where we learned about the early inhabitants of Ohio wildlife. We hope the children enjoyed their week with us and we are excited to see what next week has in store.
