The children have been learning a lot about different kinds of instruments and the sounds they make, and also talking about their own instruments they have at home. Monday in art the children painted with sponges and in language they practiced writing instrument words. In math the children engaged in a music bingo game. Tuesday in art the children painted with scrapers and were excited to see that purple mixed with yellow makes brown. In language the children practiced writing letters on chalkboards and in math the children matched musical instruments with a musical matchup concentration activity. Wednesday in art the children glued music notes to paper and in math they created patterns with music notes. The language activity we did as a whole group where the children listened to an instrument sound, and using pictures they tried to identify the correct instrument. Today was a swim day and we also had a dance party on our towels listening to Kids Bop, so fun! This afternoon the children will explore painting with cups in art, and work with instrument puzzles in math. The children will play musical chairs at group and identify the letter under their chair when the music stops. Tomorrow in art the children will do some symmetry art and in language they will play an alphabet bingo game. In math the children will match musical instruments to their shadow. In the sensory table this week the children experimented with water using cups, funnels and large bottles. The children have been very interested in dinosaurs so we added dinosaur counters with grids to work with at the little table (by the chalkboard) and we added some more dinosaurs to the block area and we have seen a lot of creative structures built for the dino’s. In the drama area we added some house items for the children to clean with: sponges, cloths, spray bottles, buckets, gloves and dusters, We recently added a sink and dish strainer for the children to practice washing dishes too!
