This week’s theme was cooking. In language development this week, we read various books relating to cooking and food, we wrote on chalkboards with chalk, manipulated letter blocks, wrote on boogie boards, and wrote on clipboards with pencils. In cognitive development this week, we matched different food containers to lids, matched different foods to each other, placed food items on a pyramid, and matched different foods by color. In motor development this week, we manipulated busy boards, stuck pipe cleaners in a colander, strung cheerios on pipe cleaners, and manipulated play-doh. In social and emotional development this week, we sung and did motions to Hot Potato by The Wiggles, and “cooked” with a peer. In social studies this week, we talked about different foods we eat at home. In Art this week, We painted with whisks, made a plate of spaghetti and meatballs with yarn and pompoms, painted with apple halves, and painted with pasta. Tomorrow we will color on paper with crayons for language, bake cookies for cognitive, manipulate rainbow caterpillar gears for motor, and make a food collage for art.
