This week’s theme was dental health. In language development this week, the children read various books relating to teeth and going to the dentist, manipulated magnet letters, engaged with felt board pieces on a felt board, interacted with wooden block letters, and wrote on laminated teeth with dry erase markers. In cognitive development this week, the children engrossed themselves in shape puzzles, math tiles, tooth-shaped lacing boards, and participated in an “elephant” toothpaste experience. In motor development this week, the children built with magnet builders and magnetic rods and balls, and manipulated waffle blocks and popsicle sticks and play-doh. In art this week, the children painted with toothpaste, toothbrushes, glued pompoms and tissue paper on teeth cutouts, and glued pompoms onto plates. In social and emotional development this week, the children took turns on the rainbow climber and demonstrated their own abilities to brush their teeth. They also talked about toothbrushing practices at home for their social studies development. Tomorrow, the children will use bingo daubers on tooth cutouts for language development, count and place stickers on teeth for cognitive development, walk across the balance beam and manipulate nuts and bolts for motor development, and participate in our music class with Miss Mel.
