Author’s Week

It’s authors week and the children have been listening to books from several different popular ones that they love.  Our older children love looking at their own books, turning the pages and pointing to their favorite pictures so this week has been a lot of fun.  Fine motor activities included moving paint filled ice cubes around a paper plate, manipulating our pop-up toys, nesting cups inside one of another, and matching bowls to lids.  They have been figuring out how to sit correctly in their chairs at meal times and then staying there for the entirety of the meal.  Pom-poms dropped inside of a toilet paper roll entertained them for quite awhile, they were truly fascinated by the whole thing and how it worked.  Our soon to be one year old children are learning to keep plates and bowls on their tray while also using them to eat out of and off of at every meal.  Our smallest babies are discovering that they can roll and that their feet are attached and make wonderful teething toys!  They listened to different sounds and then practiced tracking them with their eyes and by turning their heads. Puppets have told many interesting stories and then the children were able to interact with them in their own way.  So much fun to keep them busy and learning – next week promises for many new opportunities for them to see and do!
