This week is a fun week because our theme is Christmas in July.  It was also a fun week because we went to the Great Lakes Science Center where the children got to do and explore different things such as making their own paper air plane, figure out how to get windmills moving using water, make cars etc.  There was so much they did that I can’t name them all!  We went to Play in Bay Park where they got to play on the huge playground.  We tried to spend at least 30 minutes in each area so that they can enjoy the entire playground.  We finished off the week at the Cleveland History Center.  We got to see the different cars, motorcycles, and airplanes.  We loved seeing the different things that people made.  Garrett Morgan is famous for making the stoplight and they have the replica of the one he first made and the stop light that we see today.  After lunch, we went to the mansion part where the children were amazed at how many rooms they had and how fancy the items were back in the day.  The children saw the servants quarters and expressed how they felt it was wrong that the servants quarters were smaller and not as fancy. We explained that it was how things were back in the old days and it’s not like that today.  This week, they learned a lot this week and I hope that they had fun!

The children made paper air planes, popsicle stick snowflakes which are in the window, they made a marshmallow catapult, melted chocolate in the sun, painted using leaves, and they painted a Christmas Scene using watercolors.  They made a potholder with Ms. Joanne and they had so much fun creating this!  We made shakers for the Infant room using different things such as broken crayons, cut up straws, cut up pip cleaners, and fuse beads.  We wanted to create different sounds for the babies so that they can have fun playing with the shaker bottles.  They even had fun shaking it up to see if each bottle sounds differently.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me!  Please check your child’s cubbies and take home any art projects they have made.
