We are welcoming fall with activities exploring all things fall. Monday in art the children painted paper plates green and red to make into apples. In language the children matched their name leaf to their name on a tree and in math the children played a game of squirrel in the orchard where they needed to take fruit from a tree and place it in a basket before the squirrel got to the top of the tree. Tuesday in art the children used their small muscles to tear red, green, orange and yellow paper and glued to a tree to create a fall tree! In language the children strung letters and in math they engaged in a fall bingo activity. Wednesday in art the children sponge painted pumpkins and in language they matched letters on an acorn. In math the children graphed leaves by type: birch, oak and maple. Today in art the children practiced drawing people and in the afternoon they will glue peas and beans to gourds. In language the children matched lettered pumpkins and in math they built a pumpkin pie by adding small pom poms to a pie plate. Tomorrow in art the children will explore tape resist art and in language they will pick and apple out of a basket, name the letter and write the letter. In math the children will work with 1 to 1 correspondence grids and pumpkin erasers. In the sensory table this week the children explored plastic gourds and acorns in water with tongs and cups. In science the children worked with wooden acorns and scales.
