It is cooking week and so many fun activities have been explored so far! Monday in art the children painted with green peppers and in math the children engaged in a kitchen utensil game. In language the children matched kitchen words to the picture. Tuesday in art the children did a cookie and mouse craft, and in math the children matched cookie shapes. In language the children wrote letters in a tray of rice with sticks. Wednesday in art the children painted with apples and in math they sorted pictures into 2 groups of ingredient, and kitchen tool. In language the children matched letters to letters on a chef hat. Today in art the children glued noodles to paper and in math they sorted shapes onto trays using tongs to pick up the shapes, a good fine motor experience! In language the children dictated how to make chicken soup. Tomorrow in art the children will do rainbow bread painting and in math they will play spin and fill the cupcake. In language the children will explore food rhymes. In the sensory table this week the children explored water with ladle spoons, whisks, bowls, tongs, colanders and letters for alphabet soup. The children have also engaged in continued gross motor activities in the great room such as hopscotch, golfing, walking backwards on the balance beam, big block building, all sorts of locomotor movements and yoga!
