It has been a week of so many rhyming words and fun silly stories from Dr. Seuss. Monday in art the children made a Dr. Seuss hat by gluing white stripes on the red hat. In math the children engaged in a Dr. Seuss bingo game and in language the children matched rhyming words using pictures with the word, on a Dr. Seuss hat. At group time we read, The Cat in The Hat, and the children shared the rhyming words they heard. Tuesday in art the children painted fish bowls blue and in math they explored patterning by color with linking fish. In language the children traced letters with goldfish crackers and at group we read One Fish, Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. Wednesday in art the children did some foot painting, painting their feet and walking across the paper. In math the children engaged in a sock concentration game and in language they matched lettered socks. At group time we read Fox In Socks and oh so many rhymes and tongue twisters! We also introduced learning which hand is left and which hand is right. Today in art the children painted with koosh rings and in math they engaged in a path game to get the airplane to the sky. In language we did some name writing practice and letter matching. At group we read the story, Oh The Places You Will Go and the children all shared places they have gone. Tomorrow in art the children will sponge paint white on red paper and in math they will match eggs by shape and color. In language the children will chart letters of ones that are curvy, and letters that are straight. At group we will read Green Eggs and Ham. In the sensory table this week the children have been exploring water with linking fish, tongs, spoons and bowls. In the block area we added some legos and those have been very popular.
