All Around the World

There have been several trips around the world through our books, the music toys, our toy people, and songs as we dive into our theme this week.  It has been a lot of fun seeing how babies from all over the globe, live, eat, and play.  The older children have practiced their fine motor skills through using their spoons at meals, dropping popsicle sticks into juice bottles, using our lacing toys, exploring the stacking rings, and pulling pom poms out of a whisk.  So much fun!  They had the opportunity to match pieces of toy fruit to their respective baskets as well as trying their hand at tossing bean bags into a container.  The newly turned one year old’s have been practicing cleaning up toys to music and how to brush their teeth with water.  The smaller and younger babies have been just as busy!  They are working on turning the pages of a book as we sit and read with them or reaching out to pat at the pages, especially those with interesting pictures they like to look at.  They interactively played peek-a-boo with scarves and then worked on getting those scarves out of a ball.  We have played “This Little Piggy” and had them giggling and smiling.  All have been listening to lullabies from around the world as they settle down for sleep.  It has been an interesting week full of wonder as we learn about babies and people from around the world and are excitedly looking forward to what next week brings!
