Fun with Luau Week

we introduced the theme with pictures/print on the word wall, practiced doing the hula in the great room along with the limbo, watched a short video of people doing the hula, and listened to various Hawaiian music.

Art

Monday- Pineapple- glued yellow tissue paper on pineapple shape and stem

Tuesday- Sea Turtle- Painted white paper blue and  glued on turtle shape

Wednesday-Palm Tree- Glued on tree trunk, palm leaves and coconuts

Thursday- Coconut- glued shredded coconut on brown paper circle

Friday- Flower Luau collage- glued various colorful flowers to paper

Math-Number counting coconut with containers with slits to practice number recognition and count as high as they can or order in which they can, counting silly straws with buckets to place one by one and name colors, 

Motor development- Play-dogh with flamingo and palm tree picks to manipulate, poke,make stand and roll to strengthen finger.hand grasp and eye-hand coordination, colanders with small colorful straws to poke inside holes, push through and pull out, 

Sensory table- Coconut shavings, Luau cups, scoops and flowers

Activities

Explored a real coconut, cut open a real pineapple and tasted it

Valentine songs. Valentine freeze dance
