This week was fun as we focused on a different sense each day. We have been doing our math activities during group where the children look at a picture and discuss the sense; for example: Monday the children would share if the picture was fore the sense of sound such as a drum, a megaphone, bells etc. Different pictures were added that did not go along with the sens of sound to help sort. Monday was sound, Tuesday was smell, Wednesday touch, today is sight and tomorrow will be taste. In language this week the children have been exploring letter matching, letter writing with word walls of body parts and the 5 senses. We have incorporated a lot of listening skill with language too for the children to listen to sounds and guess the item. Tomorrow the children will dictate something they can hear, see, touch, smell and taste. In art this week the children painted with cinnamon mixed in and on Tuesday they painted with bottles that had bells inside. Wednesday in art the children chose what they wanted to do with the new enhancement of the art area. A tray was set out with scissors, glue bottles, paint sticks and collage materials. This was a fun experience and the children were so busy. Today in art the children drew people and tomorrow they will paint with marshmallows. In the sensory table the children have been cutting, and tearing paper. The children also explore pluffle, a fun tactile exploration. In the block area we added a dollhouse and the children also continue to enjoy the ramp. The drama area we are seeing lots of fun with the leprechaun hats, pots and coins. We added bunny ears, baskets and eggs this week to give a little St. Patrick’s day and Easter mix! The children have also enjoyed the parent visitors this week, as well as in weeks past; it is a highlight of their day and they get so excited when they learn a parent is coming in. Thank you parents!!
