This week we celebrated daddies and grandpas that make up an integral part of their everyday life.  We read books about them, listened to songs, and watched fingerplays.  They played with cloth toolboxes and medical kits which both contained a bunch of fun items that you would typically find in a grownup one.  They scribbled with chalk on paper, dropped pom poms down a paper towel tube, danced with ribbons and scarves, and watched bubbles float across the room and outside.  Bean bags were dropped, tossed and dumped, the pop up toys caused much excitement and curiosity, and the wind up and go animals brought lots of hand clapping, squeals and laughter.  They have played outside and tossed balls, rode on bikes, and waved to all of the big kids that were also outside.  All of the babies watched Old MacDonald puppets and then explored them on their own afterward.  There has been much babbling, signing, and pointing as everyone is practicing emerging language skills.  Sitting, walking, and standing are coming to the forefront as many are so close to being able to move forward on their own – and everyone is very excited about it!  It has been a busy, exciting week full of surprises and discovery and as always we can’t wait to see what next week brings!
