ππ© This Week in Our Classroom: Dr. Seuss! π©π
This weekβs theme was Dr. Seuss, and the children had so much fun exploring silly stories, colorful activities, and hands-on learning inspired by some of our favorite books!
π£ Language Development
We read several classic Dr. Seuss stories π and practiced early literacy skills throughout the week. The children wrote on the letters their first names begin with, pulled mystery items out of a box and identified them, colored with markers, and explored flannel boards with story pieces to help retell parts of the stories.
π’ Math
In math, we matched different shoe cutouts π and sorted red and blue fish
π§ͺ Science
Our young scientists had a blast making and exploring oobleck (a silly, squishy mixture inspired by Dr. Seuss!). We also made our dry erase pictures βswimβ, watching how drawings move in water.
π Motor Development
We stayed active by walking on footprints around the classroom, manipulating nuts and bolts for fine motor practice, moving to fun fish songs, and exploring lacing and dressing boards.
π Social & Emotional Development
This week we practiced independence by working on taking off and putting on our shoes πβa great self-help skill!
π¨ Art
Our artists stayed busy creating a variety of projects! We made an alphabet collage, painted with our feet π¦Άπ¨, painted a fishbowl cutout, and used bingo daubers to make colorful designs.
β¨ Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
- Language Development: We will play I Spy to practice identifying objects.
- Math: We will sort pom-poms by color.
- Motor Development: We will practice balance by walking on a balance beam.
- Social Studies: We will split into two groupsβRed Fish and Blue Fishβand practice completing tasks together as part of a group.
Itβs been a silly, colorful, and fun week of learning inspired by Dr. Seuss! πππ
