Deep down in the deep blue sea…this week has been all about under the sea as well as summer! We officially kicked off our summer with goldfish swim and learning about swim safety. We then dove into our week of under the sea. We began the week by talking about the sea itself. We discussed if it is colder or warmer the deeper you go and many of our friends said colder. When asked why, as a group, we agreed it was because the sun does not shine all the way down. We worked on different language activities such as BINGO, writing ocean words, working on ocean animal beginning sounds and letter matching. At the math table this week, we worked on sorting by colors and number recognition activities. The children had ocean bottles at the science table to explore what the ocean can look like. The children became creative at the art table by making a pufferfish using a fork, creating a clown fish with their hands, a watercolor shell and a jellyfish out of a white lunch bag. We went on two different field trips this week which were Kauffman Park and Edgewater Park for a little bit. We understand that the days can be hot and being outside all day long is tiring but if you could encourage your child to have fun and play with their peers, they will have a better time! We take frequent water and shade breaks throughout the day! We had our first swim day that the children played outside in the pools for a good hour or so. The children played with the water toys and the spray bottles. Please remember to bring a swim bag with a towel and clothes for them to change into! We will end this fabulous week with another fun field trip with the summer school age…Friday, we go rock climbing! We hope that the children had a wonderful week with both the field trips and under the sea. There is more fun to be had next week! Have a wonderful weekend!
