It’s a week about mom’s throughout the center and the activities have been a lot of fun!  They have listened to career puppets tell stories about what their specific job is and then had the opportunity to play with those puppets in their own way – many are learning how to put them on their hands by themselves, which is very exciting!  Art activities have included bingo dabbers on paper, stamping with letter stamps, and coloring on paper.  Our older children are recognizing their friends with songs and hearing and trying to imitate animal sounds.  “Talking” on our toy phones has been a big hit as of lately as is playing outside with the bikes and balls.  Matching bowls and lids and using pots and pans in our kitchen to “make” food, are fun imaginative play skills that we have been working on with our older children.  The younger ones are putting newly learned crawling skills to the test and trying to get to balls that have rolled away in front of them.  We have put scarves into our balls and let them try to pull them back out while they are learning how to knock over block towers, which can be hilarious by the way.  They all have heard books and songs about mommies and grandmas, while watching and learning about signs that can be used throughout their day.  What a great week that has highlighted a favorite person in their lives and next week, it will be all about gardening, where we will “plant” flowers and observe bright, bold colors in our outside adventures!
