It’s Easter week and many fun experiences. In art this week the children painted with peeps, they painted paper with bright colors, did some egg dyeing, and tomorrow they will tissue paper eggs. In math the children have graphed jelly beans and also sorted the jelly beans on a grid. There was some egg patterning, Easter bingo and tomorrow will be bunny shape matching. In language the children dictated what they know about Easter and drew a picture to go with their words. They explored beginning letter sounds by matching a picture to the letter. The children also matched egg by color words and they will match names tomorrow. In the sensory table the children got creative with Easter grass and plastic eggs and in the block area the children continue to be creative and we have seen some elaborate buildings and houses. Dram area brought the return of the baby dolls and bottles and while our pets are away sleeping the children have gotten creative using the dog bowls for the baby dolls to sit in; it’s fun to see their minds get creative. The art shelf got a little more organized and we have been showing the children how to care for the materials, and put them back in the right places when done. The children have also been engaging in a lot of pretend birthday cake making with the materials in the classroom and we have been hearing lots of birthday song singing!
