Such a fun week talking and learning about all the different pets we have, and the pets we want. In art this week the children glued tissue paper to fish, painted with yarn, painted with feathers and did some artsy Thursday hand print art. Tomorrow will be the children’s choice for art. In math the children have added goldfish crackers to a fish bowl and they used a spinner to tell how many to add each turn. The children engaged in a pet bingo game, created parrot feather patterns with colored clothespins which also engaged their small muscles to make it a fine motor task. In language this week the children matched lettered goldfish, matched pet words with a rhyming word and played some fish letter bingo. The children also matched lettered dog tags to the matching letter dog. In the sensory table this week the children explored goldfish with strainers and bowls and in drama the children continue to be helpful taking care of the baby dolls, they are super busy with all the babies that need to be changed and fed. The block area is in transition time as we get materials ready for the next enhancement. The children have been keeping busy however with the unit blocks, people, cars and animals as we continue to see lots of creative structures. For week of the young child the children had fun making their own bag of trail mix and enjoyed making instruments and the little music show from Miss Rasta and Miss Scooter. The children can’t wait for tomorrow to work together and build with the infants! We also had some special readers this week, we had councilmen Matt Bixenstine come and he brought his daughter with him, and yesterday Miles big brother Everett came to read to the class and Miles brought in his pet dog Cooper! Tomorrow we look forward to Violets dad, Councilman Kyle Baker come and read to the class.
