We introduced the theme with various pictures of children/adults cooking/baking, cooking songs, named various food items we bake, do you cooking with mom/dad/family members, and what do you make?.
Art
Monday- made muffins by spreading real frosting on brown paper and added raisins
Tuesday- Stamped with real ice cream cones and colored yogurt on white paper
Wednesday-No art- We made Blueberry muffins
Thursday-Vegetable Soup Pot- Glue letters to black pot
Friday-Chef Hats- decorate with food stamp, stuff with tissue paper.
Math
This week the children worked on various math skills to practice and build their knowledge. The children counted spoons by placing them into foam circles, practiced colors by matching play food to same color buckets, magnet wands with food pieces to make all the same colors and place on colored paper, and counting coins with sorting trays and place same color coins together.
Motor Development
The children practiced and strengthen balance, eye-hand coordination and grip by flipping plastic cookies onto cookie sheet with small spatulas, fruit toss with tongs, oatmeal play dough w/ cooking tools to manipulate/press and cut, food picking- follow the tape line and pick up the food and jumping over rope/line on floor to practice balance.
