This week’s theme was bugs and insects. This week was also the week of the young child. On Monday, we combined our room with the older toddler room and got to do some fun stuff. We manipulated caterpillars and butterflies, threaded noodles on pipe cleaners, played with rice and insects in the sensory bin, and glued pompoms onto popsicle sticks to make our very on caterpillars. Tuesday was Tasty Tuesday and we made trail mix and got to eat jello for snack. We also colored on paper with crayons for our language development, made Ooblek and did puzzles for our cognitive development, made bug imprints in play-doh for our motor development, practiced self-regulation for our social and emotional development, and painted with insect counters in art. Wednesday was Work Together Wednesday and we worked together by signing cards for our special guests this week. We also used bingo daubers on ladybugs for language development, placed pompoms on ladybugs for cognitive development, placed ladybugs in muffin tins for motor development, and glued spots on ladybugs for art. Thursday was Artsy Thursday and we glued tissue paper on a canvas during art. We also manipulated alphabet blocks for language development, placed shapes on snail stacking pegs in cognitive development, and placed stickers on a poster board for motor development. For social studies this week, we used different bugs to talk about our different family members. Tomorrow we will use color pencils on caterpillar cutouts for language development, use magnifying glasses with insect counters for cognitive development, manipulate rainbow caterpillar gears for motor development, and do butterfly symmetry art in art. We will also submit our vote for the book playoff and see which is the winner!
