This week’s theme was circus! In language development this week, we colored on a “C” for circus, wrote on magnetic writing boards, wrote upside down on a poster board that was taped underneath a table, and wrote on clipboards with pencils. In cognitive development this week, we sorted different circus cut outs, matched different clown faces, manipulate puzzles and mixed ingredients to bake cupcakes. In motor development this week, we played with wooden circus pieces, ripped tickets and put them in containers with slots, played with shape sorters, and picked up pompom “popcorn,” In art this week, we made a circus banner, glued pompoms on bowls for our circus hats, and painted with puffy paint. In social and emotional development this week, we took turns playing ring toss, and hit balloons with paper plates. In social studies this week, we divided the group into clowns and lions and had them perform various actions. We also had ball and shaving cream in our sensory bin that the children enjoyed a lot, had picture day where everyone looked so pretty and handsome, and we started our very own “Baby Doll Circle Time” where we use our baby dolls to help build empathy and raise awareness of others’ emotions and feelings as well as our own behavior and it’s impact it has on others. Tomorrow we will write with water on chalkboards for language development, match different colored balloons for cognitive development, decorate our cupcakes for motor development, and make candy apple cutouts in art.
