Where’s the campfire? This week was all about camping. We began this week talking about what we would bring with us if we ever went camping. The children did a good job when making the list. On our list, the children said: food, stuff for s’mores, tent, sleeping bag, pillow, lantern and flashlight just to name a few. We also discussed some safety rules when camping such as if you can’t see mom or dad, then they can’t see you so go back, use walking feet so we are not tripping over things and never try and put a fire together…it is hot! Throughout this week, the children worked on rhyming words, ABC letter recognition and some camping BINGO at the language table. The children worked on number recognition activities and building shapes with marshmallows and toothpicks. At the science table the children worked on building tents with marshmallows and toothpicks all week. Our friends had fun with the tent and fake fire that we put in drama! The children dove into their creative side by creating fire using paint and foil, making a tent with mini craft sticks, and making a picture out of marshmallows. The children even made their own s’mores…yummy! We had an exciting week with our new friends from preschool transitioning to become pre-kers. We will end this fun week with music class with Miss Mel! We hope that you all have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend. We will see you all next week.
