Preschool got a head start on celebrating dad’s this week as we implemented our Father’s day theme this week, we just couldn’t wait! Monday in art the children painted with feeling stamps and in language they explored telling stories using pictures as prompts. In math the children matched paper numbers to a number line, a good practice for placing numbers in order. Tuesday in art the children marble painted and in language they picked a letter from a baseball cap and practiced writing it on a dry erase board. In math the children engaged in a tie concentration activity. Wednesday in art the children painted with scrub brushes and in language they answered some questions to share things about Dad. In math the children added animal counters to a 1 to 1 grid. Today in art the children created a collage of materials glued to paper and in language the children engaged in a who, what, when, where and why question activity. In math the children sorted baseballs by size. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with watercolors and in language they will dictate why dad is so special. In math the children will count how many blue items they see in the room, then red, yellow and so on. This week in science the children engaged in a pom pom drop activity where they dropped pom poms through tubes, and tried to catch in cups. This was a popular experience in the classroom this week. In the sensory table the children worked with sensory marbles, rolling them on the spiral, and turning the spiral to have the marbles land in different places.
