This week’s theme is Construction.  We put together pirate ships, surfboards, they painted their own fireworks using paint and craft rolls.  They drew pictures of different construction vehicles.  The children used the sticks and leaves to create their name.  The children also created construction signs that we see whenever there is construction going on.  We talked about it.  We made “new” crayons out of the broken crayons we had in our crayon bin and then we presented the “new” crayons to the Young Toddler and Older Toddler rooms.  The toddlers were so excited!

We went to Rocky River Nature Center where they learned about what animals we would find in the woods and water.  The children were able to use a net and try to catch living things in the water such as frogs, crayfish.  The children learned that they may not be able to catch much because the water was very shallow and it was hot outside.  But that did not stop them from trying to catch something!  We went to the Beck Center where they learned a new dance with Ms. Kelsey and she also taught them exercises actors do when they get ready for a play, we had Music with Mr. Michael, and Ms. Cat did an art project with them.  They were very creative with the scrap paper!  We saw how different each art work was!  We finished off the week at the Cleveland Museum of Art.  We saw so many different art pieces and we talked about what we liked and didn’t like.  The art museum gave us ideas as to what we wanted to try to do in the future..

Coach Charlotte came in this week.  She taught the children how to play basketball and they learned terms associated with basketball such as dribble, swish, etc.  They learned how to get the ball into the basketball hoop by holding the ball the proper way and being able to get the ball into the hoop.  They had so much fun!  Ms. Joanne came in and the children made terrariums.  They used many different items such as stones, rocks, gemstones, cut up felt, seashells, colored gravel, and fake plants.

The children had a fun and busy week and I hope they had as much fun as we did!  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me!
