It is sports week throughout the center and for our babies that means so many different kinds of balls to kick, throw and roll. Big, little and textured, they have literally been having a ball. They have had opportunities to play outside with them and inside the classroom, our smallest babies, are lying next to them and are practicing reaching for them, whether in front of them or next to them. Fun songs such as Take Me Out to the Ballgame and many different sports books are being sung and read to them. Fine motor activities have included busy boxes, stacking rings, lacing toys, and peg boards which all have enjoyed. Our older children have painted with popsicle sticks and colored on paper. Bubbles have floated above them many times and dancing to music has brought many smiles and laughter. While learning to stack blocks is a fun developmental activity that some are learning right now, bringing out the large Lego blocks, brings much excitement. How fun is it to build towers with their teachers that are as tall as they are, those are some exciting moments! So many are perfecting new developmental milestones, such as sitting, rolling, and walking, that has made this week full of surprises and so much fun! Next week, we will be celebrating Christmas throughout the center, so watch for some new and fun activities that all the babies will enjoy and love.
