Play Ball!! This week was all about SPORTS! Since there are so many different sports in the world, we broke it down into 5 sports for the week. We began our week with soccer. We learned that the only person who is allowed to use their hands is the goalie…as long as they are in the box because once out of the box, they are a regular player and need to use every thing else. We worked on letter writing and I spy soccer game at math and made our own soccer ball at art. On Tuesday, we had our field trip at Bain Park but it was also football day! We made a fingerprint football, played some football tic tac toe, number clip cards and put the footballs in ABC order. On Wednesday we learned about baseball. We talked about and were shown the difference between a softball and a baseball. Even though they are different in size, we discussed that they both are hard and can hurt the same so make sure we use our glove. We discussed the different positions there are in baseball as well. On that day, played a baseball path game and did an ABC matching activity with a baseball and bat (construction paper). Thursday was a busy day for us, before heading out to the field trip, we had our friend Coach Charlotte come work with us then we headed of to Bohlken Park and Fairview Lanes to get some bowling in. Back at school, we talked about golf and worked on patterning with golf tees and writing golf words. We also created our own golf balls on a tee with white paint. We will end our sports week with hockey! The children will create their own hockey stick out of craft sticks, work on letter recognition and put pucks in order from 1-20. We hope that the children enjoyed sports week as much as Miss Chasity did! So go out and play some ball! Have a wonderful weekend!
