We went to USS COD where we got to see a submarine that is over 80 years old!  It had over 85 bed for the soldiers to sleep in, they got to see the torpedo tubes, mess hall, showers, bathrooms, etc.  The children got to see what different types of jobs they had.  We couldn’t believe how small it was inside!  It was pretty neat to see something and we had appreciation for our men and women who served during those times.  After USS COD, we went to Edgewater Park where we had lunch and played on the playground, and we went for a walk.  We went on to Elmwood Park where we played on the climber, went on a nature walk, and we celebrated a peer’s birthday with a special treat they brought in.  We finished off the week by going to Lakewood Park where we played with PreK.  We played on the playground by spending 30 minutes at each part.  We had lunch, played with field toys, and we went for a walk.  We spent time on the solstice steps where we looked at the water with our friends.

Our theme this week is Friends.  We made bracelets, drew pictures of our friends, we drew a picture of something we saw on USS COD, we drew pictures of what we liked best about summer camp, we made things with our friends.  We did Science experiments,  We had a busy week doing different things!  We learned that trees give us shade and a child noticed sap on a tree.   We talked about sap and how some trees give us sap by using a spigot.  Some children used sticks to write their name and others used leaves, sticks, and pine cones, to make a house for the animals.  They were very creative this week.

We can’t believe that Summer Camp is over!  We had a great summer and I hope that your children had a great summer making new friends, exploring new places, and learning new things.  We enjoyed having your children this year and we hope to see them next year!  Thank you so much for everything and helping us out!  We appreciate you!!
