It is nursery rhyme week and we have been reading many of the favorites and listening for the words that rhyme. Monday in art the children painted with animal cookie cutters and in language matched rhyming stones by looking at the picture on the stone and saying the words to hear the rhyming sound. In math the children matched rhyming words of puzzles. Tuesday in art the children practiced cutting playdough and in language they matched lettered stars. In math the children matched pumpkins with the same number. Wednesday the children wanted to cut so we did some cutting practice to try and cut along lines. In language the children explored the writing pads and in math the matched eggs by color and number. Today in art the children drew pictures of their families and also explored more playdough! In language the children worked on an alphabet puzzle and in math they sorted animal counters by color and tried out patterning too. Tomorrow in art the children will make pumpkin prints and in language they will dictate what their favorite nursery rhyme is and why. In math the children will count and sort veggie counters using ice cube trays. In the water table this week the children worked with farm animals and cups.
