Theme week – it has been so fun to see how everyone is dressing for the day to celebrate it. Our older children have definitely been able to take advantage of the warm weather and played outside with all the leaves and toys that are out there with them. Inside, they have explored peg boards, lacing toys, and shape sorters – all three are such great ways to improve those fine motor skills! Art activities have included painting, stickers, bingo dabbers, and crayons. They are working on their clean-up skills, throwing paper towels away after hand washing, and using their spoons. Our smaller babies have been busy as well. They played with sticky balls of tape, worked on taking items out of a container, and practiced taking rings off the top of a stacking toy. They all have moved to music in some form, some even moving ribbons to the rhythm. Books have been read and puppets have told many stories and sang songs with them. As always, new skills are practiced daily, and right now it is primarily about sitting and walking, and some are very close to doing it, how exciting! Balls are always a big hit and when they have many to choose from, with the choices being so varied, from color, size and texture, they have literally had a “ball” with them this week. We are off to see what next week brings with more laughter, fun and excitement!
