Lakewood Child Care Center

It has been a week about families and the infants are listening to books that include what family structures look like to what can be considered a family member, in simple enough language that they can relate to and it has been a lot of fun.  We have encouraged them to point out their families on our door while we talk about who they see in the pictures.  Our older children have tried their hand at dropping popsicle sticks into juice bottle and some even helped the younger children try to do it as well.  They have dropped cars down the cardboard tube, chalked on chalkboards, and used empty paper towel rolls to paint on paper.  Puzzles and stacking rings have been out for them to explore and work on fine motor skills.  Sensory bottles and scarves have been out to shake and move to different kinds of music while dancing along is always a hit!  Puppets and the felt board, along with our books have been out for us to tell so many fun stories while they have also been able to explore books on their own, practicing turning pages and pointing out pictures that interest them.  Art activities have included coloring and stamping, which some enjoyed a whole lot.  Great week of fun and learning and we move on to next week where they will watch, experience and hear about all different types of weather!
