This week we learned about Kwanzaa and the main focus was that it’s for helping each other. Monday in art the children explore4d watercolor painting and in language they practiced writing the word Kwanzaa. In math the children gaged in a shape matching game. Tuesday in art the children worked with oil pastels and in language they hunted for letters around the room. In math the children wokrked with various size gift box4es and sorted them by size. Wednesday in art the children painted with green paint and in math the children measured how tall they were using yard stiks. Toay in art the children glued wrapping paper squares to a stocking and in math the children played Candyland. Tomorrow in art the children will paint with feathers and in language they will trace names. In math the children will explore pattern blocks. In science this week the children worked with ramps and spools and in the sensory table they practiced cutting with cutting wrapping paper. The children also learned about the Kinara for Kwanzaa. In the picture books we used to discuss the holiday, the children noticed the clothing the people wore was different as the people were wearing hats and robes of bright colors. We also played Kwanzaa music in the classroom whcih the children enjoyed. We heard different types of instruments in these songs and a lot of drums.
