The holiday’s are behind us and now we are full steam ahead to enjoy everything January is going to bring us.  This week’s theme is Out of this World and there have been some fun activities for the babies.  Our older children explored foil balls and moved them in and out of baskets.  They tried their hand at scribbling with chalk and are working on pointing out facial body parts with a teacher while looking in a mirror.  They also have been practicing standing and walking with help, sitting at a table for meals and using a cup – busy week for them.  They looked through magnifying glasses, some have a color on them so when they look through them, they are looking at that color, and then we talked to them about what they were seeing.  Bubbles, balls and books have been a big hit this week with all of the children, each exploring them in their own ways.  We have some new younger babies in the room, so we have been acclimating them by giving them one on one time with us, while we sing and tell stories.  Tummy time several times a day has also been taking place, with some liking it a little more than others.  Puppets and the flannel board have been out to tell them stories and they have listened to songs about the planets and the moon.  It has been cold outside but in the classroom, we are moving to music and playing with all the toys and participating in all different kinds of activities.  What a fun week back from the holiday’s!
