Mmmm….what’s that delicious aroma!? This week has been all about cooking. We started off our week discussing how to be safe in the kitchen. We came up with rules such as no touching the stove or oven or even hot water from the sink. We also said that we should only use a knife that is appropriate for kids and to make sure that we have adult supervision while cutting. We talked about how we should make sure if we have to go through the kitchen while mom or dad are cooking that we use walking feet because we don’t want to cause any accidents. We discussed our favorite foods and watched some fun videos of kids cooking in their own kitchens. This week we worked on both number and letter recognition activities, some sorting and patterning and spelling out some cooking words. We took some time to watch videos about lunches around the world because we know that people eat differently from us. Fun fact, kids in France have a four course meal for their lunch and some kids go home to have lunch before returning back to school. We spent this week in the great room where we had some food relay races where the children balanced a piece of play food on a spoon and walked it from one end of the blue mats to another before handing it off to the next friend. We also took a vote and made ourselves some chocolate chip cookies! The children were able to roll the cookie dough into a small ball before baking them. We also took a step back and learned the letter Pp this week and we came up with many different Pp words that are written on the clipboard. We hope the children had a fun time with cooking week and that they try and help out more in the kitchen as long as their is adult supervision! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!
