Lakewood Child Care Center

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day all week long! We started on Monday with lots of music and green snacks! We set out a leprechaun trap, but unfortunately we never got to catch the little man! He did leave us a cup full of M&M’s as a treat, but he also took our candy and some of our gold we left out for him! The joke was on him because the gold we left was just pretend! The class laughed and laughed that we tricked the leprechaun! For art, we made lots of rainbows and shamrocks! We used a squeegee one day, some tissue another day and the most fun was when we used a salad spinner to decorate a shamrock! Our math activities have been counting gold coins and graphing marshmallows from the Lucky Charm box. Some of the language activities have been centered around finding lettered gold coins and spelling out words like: shamrock, Irish and Ireland. Our sensory bin was busy all week with rainbow colored pom poms and matching colored toilet tubes. We used small tongs to pick up and move the pom poms. Our science table was an experiment all week. We had three small black pots in a bucket of water. The idea was to see how many gold coins it took to sink the black pots. The outside has been busy as we have discovered our daffodils have opened up! These were the bulbs we planted in the late fall and have been watching their progress since early February when we had those several nice days. We also got our potting bench built and are ready for more gardening adventures!
