This week, our classroom hit the road with our exciting Transportation theme!
Language Development:
We read a variety of transportation-themed books and explored vocabulary words and pictures on our transportation vocab board. The children used bingo daubers on a giant “T” cutout, colored on road sign printouts, built words by picking up matching colored letters, and even wrote on their own pretend “driver’s licenses.”
Math:
Our little learners matched colored cars, placed toy vehicles in taped-off parking spots, sorted red, green, and yellow pom-poms, and matched colored numbers to license plate numbers.
Motor Development:
We got moving by pretending to ride a bus, manipulating small vehicle counters, playing a lively game of “Red Light, Green Light,” and assembling and taking apart Easter egg trucks and cars.
Social & Emotional Development:
Using our emotions cube, we talked about and acted out different feelings. We also practiced calming strategies through breathing exercises.
Art:
Our creative side came out through finger painting, painting with toy cars, adding glitter to stop sign cutouts, and coloring with markers.
Science:
For our science experiment, we explored the concept of sinking and floating by testing whether we could make a boat sink. The kids loved making predictions and watching the results!
Looking Ahead to Tomorrow:
We’ll be tracing our names for language development, manipulating vehicle puzzles in math, pretending to be a train during motor time, discussing our parents’ vehicles for social studies, and creating a shape train in art.
It’s been a week full of movement, creativity, and discovery—thanks for taking this journey with us! 🚦🚌
