This has been a fun and exciting theme for the preschoolers. Monday in art the children painted with cars and in language they explored words that rhyme with car, and practiced writing those words. In math the children engaged in a car counting game. Tuesday in art the children made an airplane with craft sticks and in language they looked at various types of transportation words with pictures, and talked about the beginning letters and their sounds. In math the children measured items =around the room with yarn. Wednesday in art the children sponge painted with train shaped sponges and in language the children dictated what they know about trains. Their dictations will be put together in a class book. In math the children patterned train cars by color/. Today in art the children glued together a transportation collage of all kinds of types of transportation: boats, rockets, cars, trains, and trucks. In language the children practiced tracing large letters made out of r5oads. In math the children looked at groups of transportation vehicles and talked about the one in the group that was different and why. Tomorrow in art the children will cut and paste a motorcycle and in language the children will dictate how they get to school. In math the children will explore pattern block mats. In the sensory table this week the children worked with cars, brushes and soapy water to be a car wash! In the block area the children worked with car tracks and cars.
