One of our fun themes is going on this week! Everything camping with activities. Tuesday in art the children painted with a marshmallow and in language the children found letters hidden around the room. In math the children played a camping bingo game which lead to discussions of talking about the different things we use, and see when camping. Wednesday in art the children painted with a fly swatter! In language the children practiced writing letters on chalkboards and in math the children played a snails pace race game where they rolled 1 die of colors, and 1 die of dots to tell which color snail to move and how many spaces to move it; something new and different that the children caught on to pretty quick. Today the children made a yummy s’mores treat to take home. They first crushed graham crackers in a bag with a rolling pin, and then they put 2 marshmallows on a stick and rolled the marshmallows in chocolate syrup. After rolling in syrup, they rolled it in the graham cracker crumbs! In language the children matched tents by letter and in math the children engaged in a camping concentration activity. Tomorrow in art the children will create a camping scene using various materials and shapes. In language the children will dictate what they will take on a camping trip and in math the children will match tents by number. In the sensory table this week the children explored green rice with bugs, blue marbles, cardboard tents and strips of red and yellow paper. In the block area we added Lincoln logs
